Bourne Hill Care Home

Bourne Hill Care Home is a recommended residential care home specialising in adults – those aged between 18 and 65 – with Learning Disabilities and Learning Difficulties. The clients we support present with behaviour that challenges and other complex needs.

We recognise that our clients need more than a safe and reliable service; They need to be empowered to embrace life. Many of our younger clients have left the care home with a person-centred foundation on which they now confidently stand in a more independent setting.

Our caring, kind and responsible team receives regular training tailor-made to meet the needs of those we support.

Bourne Hill is a five-bed registered care home and therefore the homely feel is easily observed. It is located in a popular residential suburb of North London, with easy access to public transport, parks, street cafes and shops.

It was reassuring to read that, at the last inspection in September 2018, the CQC inspector found that the team has a caring attitude and that the service is effective.

This is what they say about us:

‘People’s needs were assessed and care plans to meet their needs were developed. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s individual needs and preferences.’

‘People and a relative told us that they were well treated and the staff were caring. People could make choices about how they wanted to be supported and staff listened to what they had to say.’
People were treated with respect and the staff understood how to provide care in a dignified manner and respected people’s right to privacy.’

Providing a high quality of service is paramount to us. We are aware that CQC have also highlighted improvements to be made to our service. we have a comprehensive service improvement plan in place to ensure we are acting to make changes that will be sustained and embedded and much progress has already been made. Our manager completed the Registered Manager process last august and closely monitors the necessary systems. Please e-mail us if you wish to discuss the contents of our service improvement plan.

Because we understand, we, therefore, know how to make a difference to our Residents’ lives. Our aim for each individual we support is to empower them to embrace life, help them towards their personal goals and wherever possible, to work towards assisting them to live as independently as possible.

We understand that the problems encountered when facing society with Learning Disabilities and Difficulties can be demotivating.

We understand that for our Residents, not being able to express or release emotions can result in a chain of reactions that are not within their control.

We understand that leaving a hospital ward for residential care, with an unclear future, can be daunting.

We understand that each and every one of us has a right to life aspirations and ambitions and be given the opportunity to fight for them.

We understand that having to leave a family home whether it be for a few hours, a few days or a few months can be unsettling.

We understand the pressure that loved ones, care managers and medical professionals around each Resident face on a daily basis and know that it often goes unnoticed.

We regularly care for clients with Autism, Distressed Behaviour, Down’s Syndrome, Dementia, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD and equally welcome clients be it for medium or long-term residential care, respite stays or day care.
